Six month stretch

Evangeline turned six months old this week. We went out for Ice cream and Evangeline chewed on a plastic spoon, and tried part of a maraschino cherry.

Here's some photos from this month.

First Trip to the Zoo

Today we took our first trip to the St. Louis Zoo with Evangeline's friend James and his parents Brenda and Kyle. It was Mimi's birthday so we thought it fitting to celebrate. Here are some photos of the babies today at the Zoo.

Sitting pretty

Today Evangeline sat for three minutes straight without falling over. Earlier this week she couldn't even sit for a second. Amazing how quickly she is growing and gaining skills.

Evangeline tries cereal

Today Evan got her first taste of solid food. She wasn't the biggest fan, but I'm sure she'll be a fan soon. Here's some photos for your delight!

A Rainy Day

"The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house
All that cold, cold, wet day."

Five month frenzy

Our little Evan-Bunnie
Ok so I know I'm a tad behind with the updates, but here are a few recent photos of our little Evan-leener. Happy Easter! Evan is almost six months old at this point, but I need to share some updates for sure.

Evan is now an avid swimmer with a once-a-week trip to the pool. She can float on her back and kick her legs and loves to run her fingers through the little waterfall.

She can crawl by dragging herself across the floor with her arms, although she is quickly figuring out how to get her legs under her. She also loves playing with a spoon or sippy cup full of water. She is putting everything within reach in her mouth. She also will reach for us she she wants to be picked up, and is attempting kissing mommy (although it feels more like she's trying to eat me with her gums).

Right now she is reading through The Wonderful Wizard of Oz with daddy at night, and tries to turn the pages as daddy reads along. She also loves paper, and plastic (basically anything that crinkles).

She is almost sitting up on her own, although it is clear she would rather be standing. She is also getting into everything. This week she managed to take all her toys out of the tote bag in the living room and spread them around, get into the dog water bowl in the kitchen (clean and recently refilled), and my briefcase (see photo below).  She also loves boxes right now and was able to take a recent gift out of the package by herself.
Evan is getting into everything, notice the toy untouched, but mommy's briefcase is a lot more interesting
She loves bouncing up and down. She does this in her swing, as well as when any adult holds her upright. She can also stand up when someone holds her arms. She is teething and has two teeth coming in and we're hoping she gets more so she won't be mistaken for a vampire. (Only fitting for a baby born the week of Halloween).

She's sleeping through the night most nights now, but always wakes up at 6 a.m. and is super happy to see Greg and I. She is a happy baby and giggles a lot. She loves the sound a duck makes, and laughs. She gargles her lips and imitates "hi" and "hello" so well that sometimes we think she is talking to us. Most of the time she is in wonder of what goes on around her, and her rounded lips indicate this.
Often this is the face we get from her.

She recognizes family she talks to on Skype, and voices on the phone. She recognizes her friend's moms and some of mommy and daddy's friends too. She's a very social baby--which is understandable knowing her mom and dad.

Out for a walk with Claire (and Claire's mom of course).
